Internal Family Systems Therapy
(IFS)

The premise of IFS is that our inner world is unique and intricate, consisting of many subpersonalities or parts. Challenging life experiences cause imbalance of our inner system, disharmony or polarity between parts and the lack of self-leadership. The goal of IFS therapy is to guide clients in exploration of their inner system, helping them befriend all their parts and to heal wounded parts. This helps to restore inner harmony, clarify own values and be more self-led.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing
(EMDR)

EMDR is a powerful therapy that helps to process difficult memories that continue to cause distress and affect our lives in a multitude of ways. Often when a traumatic/distressing memory occurs, it is stored in the brain differently from a normal memory because of the high level of emotion at the time. Such memories are often locked in the nervous system and can be triggered when a reminder comes along. When triggered we feel intense overwhelming emotions which seem to further reinforce our negative beliefs about ourselves or the world around us (e.g., I am unsafe; I am unlovable; I am not good enough; I am not in control; I cannot trust others). This, in turn, promotes defenses/coping mechanisms which may keep us stuck in a survival mode, preventing us from realising our potential and living the life we desire. EMDR helps to reduce distress associated with traumatic memories, which has a positive effect on our emotions, beliefs and behaviours.

Deep Brain Reorienting
(DBR)

DBR is another powerful modality that aims to access the core of the traumatic experience in a way which tracks the original physiological sequence in the brainstem, the part of the brain which is rapidly activated in situations of danger or attachment disruption. It is a body-based transformational therapy that unlocks an inherent ability of the human brain to find healing from emotional trauma.
